MY BREAD MAKING STORY So when you are ready to make a loaf or boule of bread the dough is ready and waiting for you! Instead of kneading dough, we can achieve those relaxed glutens by giving the dough a longer time to rest and develop on its own! And this is achieved by mixing up a dough recipe and letting it develop in the refrigerator! This also helps to develop the bread’s suburb flavor. But this can be achieved in a much easier way than kneading! Kneading dough makes those wonderful strands of gluten that make the crust and crumb of the bread that gives it texture. No-knead bread is the easiest way to make a delicious real bakery-style loaf of bread! No-knead means just that. ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() While there are several Viking symbols that may have lost meaning, the Sw*stika is most definitely the one that almost lost its true meaning. Today, besides being a famous Norse protection symbol, Mjölnir represents the Germanic Neopaganism faith known as Heathenry or Heathenism. The amulets would be worn alongside Christian crosses. This tradition conditioned even when most of the Vikings transformed and adopted Christianity as their religion. In more relatable events, the Viking warriors would wear Thor’s Hammer as an amulet whenever they set out to battle. It is not surprising, therefore, that the hammer of Thor is considered a Norse symbol of protection. He fought giants and guarded the cosmos against the giants by crushing them with the hammer. ![]() Thor was known to be the people's protector. It has also been linked with ‘new snow’ in a way that it represents purity.Īnother varied interpretation means crushing/ to crush. One of the earlier meanings claims that the Mjöllnir means ‘lightning.' Other notable experts suggest that it could mean white like the color of lightning. Historians and experts have come across different meanings of the symbol. Even though it is from an ancient time, it still holds so much power historically and in present times. The Mjölnir/ Thor’s hammer has been replicated in different artworks and even in modern movies, indicating its popularity and significance. The oldest known surviving hourglass resides in the British Museum in London. Although they became relatively less useful as clock technology advanced, hourglasses remained desirable in their design. The hourglass, however, did not disappear entirely. This was due to the development of the mechanical clock, which became more accurate, smaller and cheaper, and made keeping time easier. The smaller models were more practical and very popular as they made timing more discreet.Īfter 1500, the hourglass was not as widespread as it had been. ![]() Because they were being used for more everyday tasks, the model of the hourglass began to shrink. Hourglasses were commonly seen in use in churches, homes, and work places to measure sermons, cooking time, and time spent on breaks from labor. The hourglass also found popularity on land as an inexpensive alternative to mechanical clocks. While hourglasses were insufficiently accurate to be compared against solar noon for the determination of a ship's longitude (as an error of just four minutes would correspond to one degree of longitude), they were sufficiently accurate to be used in conjunction with a chip log to enable the measurement of a ship's speed in knots. Unlike the clepsydra, hourglasses using granular materials were not affected by the motion of a ship and less affected by temperature changes (which could cause condensation inside a clepsydra). Marine sandglasses were popular aboard ships, as they were the most dependable measurement of time while at sea.
